What is Alius RC?

Alius RC is a professional robot remote controller built on modified DJI RC PLUS2 hardware. It is not a simple firmware reflash of a DJI remote controller. Through deep customization of the Android system, integration of DJI MSDK 5.x, and the proprietary Alius RC SDK, a consumer-grade aerial photography remote controller has been transformed into a low-cost, high-availability universal robot control platform.

Alus RC is designed for robot developers, system integrators, and industry users, offering a unified control experience — from drones and unmanned surface vessels to AGVs and industrial robotic arms, a single remote controller covers the control requirements of multiple types of robots.

Why Choose the DJI RC PLUS2 Modification Approach?

Cost Advantage

Developing a professional-grade robot remote controller from scratch typically incurs hardware BOM costs exceeding ¥15,000, excluding one-time investments in industrial design, mold development, reliability testing, and certification. As a mature consumer electronic product, DJI RC PLUS2 has its supply chain, quality control system, and mass production capabilities validated through millions of units shipped, with per-unit hardware costs far below any small-batch custom solution.

Alius RC’s modification approach keeps the BOM within the channel price of the DJI RC PLUS2 plus lightweight modification costs, resulting in approximately 1/3 to 1/5 the cost of a custom-built solution.

Solid Hardware Foundation

The DJI RC PLUS2’s hardware specifications are among the best in its class:

  • 7.02-inch high-brightness display: 1920×1200 resolution, 1200 nits brightness, clearly visible under direct outdoor sunlight
  • IP54 protection rating: Dustproof and splash-resistant, suitable for harsh field environments
  • Wide temperature operation: Reliable operation from -20°C to 50°C in extreme temperatures
  • Built-in high-capacity battery: Approximately 3 hours of continuous operation, supports external power for extended use
  • OcuSync 4.0 video transmission: Up to 20 km transmission range, supporting 1080p/60fps high-definition video

Mature Software Ecosystem

DJI MSDK (Mobile SDK) is currently the industry’s most mature mobile development framework for drones and robotics. MSDK 5.x provides complete APIs covering core modules such as flight control, video transmission, gimbal, battery, and obstacle avoidance, validated across tens of thousands of industry applications. Alius RC builds on MSDK 5.x with secondary encapsulation, providing the Alius RC SDK that further simplifies the robot control development workflow.

Product Positioning

Alius RC is positioned as a professional robot remote controller, with its core value propositions being:

  • Universality: A single remote controller can operate drones, USVs, AGVs, industrial robotic arms, and more — reducing equipment procurement and training costs
  • Ready out of the box: Pre-installed customized Android 10 system and Alius RC SDK, eliminating the need for developers to build underlying communication and control frameworks from scratch
  • Customizable: Provides a complete SDK and development documentation, supporting native Android development for deep customization of human-machine interfaces and control logic tailored to industry requirements
  • High reliability: Built on the market-proven DJI hardware platform, significantly exceeding generic tablet/phone solutions in terms of protection, battery life, and communication stability

Core Application Scenarios

Field Robot Inspection

In scenarios such as power line inspection, oil and gas pipeline inspection, and emergency rescue, operators need to stably control robots for extended periods in extreme environments. Alius RC’s high-brightness display, IP54 protection, and wide-temperature operation capability make it the ideal choice for field inspection. The 20 km transmission range of OcuSync 4.0 also sufficiently covers most inspection operation areas.

Robot R&D and Debugging

During the development phase, engineers need to view real-time robot status data, adjust control parameters, and record operation logs at any time. Alius RC’s open Android platform allows developers to run custom debugging tools directly on the remote controller, obtaining telemetry data in real time and issuing debugging commands through the Alius RC SDK.

Industrial Robot Control

For industrial scenarios such as AGV dispatching, unmanned vessel cruising, and drone fleet operations, Alius RC can be deployed as a unified operation terminal. Through dual-link communication via WiFi 6 and 4G networks, it seamlessly switches between local and remote control modes.

Alius RC SDK encapsulates the low-level details of MSDK 5.x, providing higher-level abstraction interfaces. Developers only need to focus on business logic without needing deep understanding of DJI communication protocol intricacies.

Product Roadmap

Alius RC is currently in continuous iteration, with future versions to support:

  • Multi-robot collaborative control (one controller simultaneously connecting multiple robots)
  • Custom physical button mapping and joystick profiles
  • HDMI output expansion — external large display or head-mounted display projection
  • Cloud-based remote control (cross-region control via 4G/5G networks)
  • AI-assisted control — vision-based auto-tracking, obstacle avoidance, and task planning
