What is Alius?
Alius is an embodied intelligence platform that provides the complete stack from robot hardware (joint modules, DCU controllers, CAN debuggers) to AI Agent software (Agent CLI, Agent Team). It's designed for teams building real robots — not just software agents.
Is Alius open source?
Yes. The Agent CLI and core software stack are open source (Rust, MIT/Apache-2.0). Hardware designs and drivers are also available on GitHub. We believe the best infrastructure is infrastructure everyone can inspect and trust.

What robots are compatible with Alius hardware?
Alius hardware (joint modules, DCU) is designed for custom robot builds — humanoids, quadrupeds, and industrial arms. The modules use standard CAN/CAN-FD and EtherCAT communication, so they integrate with any robot platform that supports these standards.
What communication protocols does Alius hardware use?
Joint modules: CAN 2.0B / CAN-FD, RS-485. Robot DCU: CAN-FD, RS-485, EtherCAT, Ethernet, USB 3.0. USB2CAN: USB 2.0 to dual CAN/CAN-FD. Motion Capture: WiFi UDP. All protocols are standard and documented.

Can I use Agent CLI without Alius hardware?
Absolutely. Agent CLI is a standalone AI Agent runtime that works on macOS and Linux. It's designed for developers who want structured, traceable AI Agent execution — whether you're controlling robots or building software.
What's the difference between Agent CLI and Agent Team?
Agent CLI is a local development tool for running individual AI Agents from your terminal. Agent Team is a server-side platform for managing multiple agents, task queues, approval workflows, and team collaboration — with a cross-platform console for desktop, tablet, and mobile.
4 Deployment & Integration
How do I deploy Alius to a Robot DCU?
The Robot DCU runs a Linux distribution (Debian/Ubuntu/Buildroot). Agent CLI can be cross-compiled for ARM64 (RK3588S target) using Rust's cross-compilation toolchain. For real-time control, the DCU runs an RTOS alongside Linux — Alius communicates through standard interfaces.
Is Alius suitable for production robot deployment?
Alius is designed for production. The hardware is engineered for industrial environments (IP54 rated, isolated power, industrial interfaces). The software stack has Shell Gate security, full audit logging, and deterministic execution — all features required for production deployment.
