Getting Started Guide
This guide will help you quickly set up the Alius Motion Capture System and start capturing motion in just a few minutes. Please follow the steps below.
Unboxing Checklist
Before starting, please ensure you have all the following components:
- Alius wireless IMU trackers (quantity depends on your configuration)
- WiFi receiver base station
- USB-C charging cable
- User manual and quick start guide
- Tracker straps or Velcro mounts
Step 1: Charging and Power On
- Use the provided USB-C cable to charge all trackers. It is recommended to fully charge before first use (approximately 2 hours)
- Long press the tracker’s power button for 3 seconds. The indicator light will turn on to indicate successful power on
- Connect the receiver base station to your computer via USB. The system will automatically recognize the device
Step 2: Software Installation
- Visit the Alius official website to download the latest version of Alius Mocap Studio software
- Run the installer and follow the prompts to complete the installation
- Launch the software. The system will automatically detect the receiver base station
- In the software interface, confirm that all trackers are connected (green status displayed)
Step 3: Wearing the Trackers
Depending on your configuration, attach the trackers to the corresponding positions on your body:
Basic 5-Point Configuration
- Head
- Left hand
- Right hand
- Left foot
- Right foot
Standard 6-Point Configuration
- Head
- Left hand
- Right hand
- Left foot
- Right foot
- Pelvis (waist)
Full 16-Point Configuration
Includes major joints of the limbs, spine segments, shoulder blades, and other positions for full-body fine capture.
Step 4: System Calibration
- Click the “Start Calibration” button in the software
- Follow the on-screen prompts to complete the following actions:
- Stand upright (T-pose)
- Extend arms forward
- Bend down to touch toes
- Rotate torso left and right
- The calibration process takes approximately 1-2 minutes
- The software will display a calibration quality report
Step 5: Testing and Adjustment
- After calibration is complete, view your motion capture effect in the software preview window
- Move various parts of your body to confirm accurate tracking
- If tracking deviation is found, you can perform single-point recalibration
- Adjust the tightness of the tracker straps to ensure the devices do not slide
Connecting to VR or Applications
SteamVR Integration
- Ensure SteamVR is installed
- Enable “SteamVR Bridge” feature in Alius Mocap Studio
- Launch SteamVR. The system will automatically recognize Alius motion capture data
- Enjoy full-body tracking in VR applications
VRChat Setup
- Launch VRChat and run it through SteamVR
- Enable “Full-Body Tracking” in VRChat settings
- Calibrate your height and proportions
- Start using full-body motion capture for social interaction
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Tracker won’t power on? A: Please check the battery level. Try charging for 30 minutes before trying again. If it still won’t power on, please contact technical support.
Q: Software cannot recognize trackers? A: Ensure the receiver base station is properly connected and the trackers are powered on. Try restarting the software and base station.
Q: Motion capture has latency? A: Check WiFi signal strength. Avoid using in environments with heavy wireless device interference. Ensure latency settings are optimized.
